Oscars tonight

I think Reese was the best dressed, bar none. And thank God Jennifer Hudson took off the jacket for her win. :clap_1:

I liked the red sparkly number she wore in her singing number though I was afraid for a minute that she was going to fall out of it.

Helen Mirrin looked impossibly elegant in her gown, and Gywneth Paltrow's gown was beautiful too. And did you notice how her lipstick matched perfectly? I wish I had those drop earrings Anne Hathaway wore!

Forrest Whitaker's acceptance speech was very touching. All in all, a very entertaining evening. I didn't even mind Ellen, who does nothing for me. She made Merman and me laugh a few times.

It certainly looked as if everyone was dressed down for this Oscars night. Even hair and jewelry was very simple. It seems like the really big stars were the ones announcing the winners. All in all it just didn't seem over the top for an Oscar night. I would have loved to see one daring dress on an actress.....giving everyone something to talk about. I did noticed Beyonce' in the front row with legs up to high thighs exposed..then later on she had her dressed pulled to cover them. I think Reese, Gwyneth, and Nicole all had the same hair dresser. And what about Jack Nicholson's shaved appearance  :rolling: I thought Celine wowed them all with her dress....Speaking of WoW....I love the new WOW comercial! And with that I'm going back to bed...Nighty Nite:sleeping:

Agree about Gwynneth's gown, she was gorgeous, as was Reese, but I think my favorite was Penelope Cruz's dusty pink number--stunning, and her lipstick sort of matched, as well. Is long straight hair the trend these days?

I was a bit surprised that The Departed won Best Picture, but gratified that Scorsese won for Best Director, because he deserved it for his body of work, and even if I wasn't crazy about the writing for The Departed, the acting was certainly a credit to Marty.

I had thought that The Queen or Letters From Iwo Jima would win Best Picture (I haven't seen either, but really want to.) I liked Little Miss Sunshine but comedies don't win BP too often, and IMHO Little Miss Sunshine, though I did love it, isn't quite on the same level as, say, Shakespeare In Love, a comedy that did win its year.I liked the international/diverse flavor of the evening (must see Pan's Labyrinth, but it'll have to be a Netflix for me.)

Ellen Degeneres didn't wow me, but she did okay. I liked her little mini-interviews.

I loved Al Gore's almost-announcement. ;-)

Penelope was the most stunning, IMO. Al and Leo cracked me up. and I really liked Ellen - she looked prettier than I've ever seen her.
