So do they get a fine because they left it on the beach?

I would understand a fine if it was/ is discovered, but a perhaps a little harsh if it has vanished...

i think they have paid a big enough fine in losing it

(no i didn't think it was yours sj - the 'you' was in response to graytonrocs)

just amazed they never heard of the giant monster that eats all the things left unsecured on the beach overnight!

still don't know what happened to the paddles...

on the other hand, you can probably get a kayak really cheap at a flea market or pawn shop to the west

Graytonroc's didn't mention the losing the paddles. Maybe they loaded them in their truck with the beach chairs, or maybe the boat seems much more significant in size and value.
