Mission accomplished!! And I am so proud of my sweet gull. She done her mama proud. I was hemming and hawing about buying another prom dress--I mean, she's going with a different guy this year than last, so couldn't she just wear last year's gorgeous gown? Well no. Flat out NO. Absolutely positively NO. Alright, I'm not so easily defeated. How about borrowing/trading with one of the girlfriends? Shot down again. My daughter is formidable. I almost withered from the frost that got heaved at me.

In the end I promised to buy Fyl another prom dress...but only if it didn't cost more than last year's. To any other gull than mine, it would have been instant capitulation right then and there and a pleading phone call to whatever girlfriend she could beg a gown from...because, you see, last year's gown was the steal of a lifetime: a double mark-down from the sale racks at Saks. Actually, it might even have been a double with an extra % off. The fashion stars were aligned in all the right places and we snagged the deal of a lifetime on a BCGY (or BGCY? whatever) because we were in the right place at the right time.

But my dear sweet Fyl surprised me and found another cosmic alignment in a small boutique. At even a better price, if such a thing is possible! It's a silvery printed swingy dress with one of those irregular hems that dips down. We got killer Kimmi-style heels to go with it, and Fyl struck a deal with her hair stylist for a half price prom do, in exchange for a custom tatoo drawing. (I can't say I'm crazy about putting another tatoo on her sylist, but if the kid's going to major in Fine Arts next year, she may as well get used to the wheeling and dealing that she's going to face as a starving artist. Yes. ) And she even wrangled an evening bag out of me. I was so happy at her fine bargain hunting--a chip off the old block I crowed to myself--that I didn't pay so much attention to all the extras. She's a crafty one, that Fyl. I can only roll my eyes.

I cannot believe I am about to type this but....................I miss prom dress shopping. :( Way to go!!! It is a funn time. Will need pics.

I love BCBG! The Max Azria's are the best! YOU are one smart shopper Mermy!:clap_1:

DD, I forgot to say I'm going to make her jewelry, too. When I was at Jdarg's house I figured out how to bend wire and now I can do my own earrings just like that! Better yet, my stuff passes "fyl approval." (I was sweating bullets on that one. )

Audie, fyl's 18th b-day present from us was a new digital camera so there will be no shortage of photos. Of that I am sure.

Pic's please!:clap_1:

BB, hang in there--not long at all before you go prom shopping. You have FFF's beautiful daughter to shop with!

:lolabove: :funn: he would be one goofy looking 6'3 woman!:floor:
Actually, I mean he is jealous because Lil FFF wants to do everything with me. He claims he is a good shopper....I try to explain to him it's not the same.

No it's not the same as shopping with a woman, but maybe he can go with ya'll, and look at some other things like jackalopes etc., then come and pop in and out to look at the dresses she is trying on and offer comment. :idontno: This way he feels like part of the decision?
He's such a good Father. :clap_1:
