Obama 08

New posts
:lolabove: ...it looks like they built a house and had to keep adding on because they forgot how many rooms they needed. For the record (and not that it really matters), when Bush lived in Dallas before going to Austin, he and his family lived in a nice but modest (for the neighborhood) home two blocks from me. Nanny nanny boo boo...my house was bigger than his house.

Personally, I would prefer the Kennybunkport (not so modest) estate. It is on a beautiful point of land.

So, ANYWAY, I really like Obama. The fact that he has less experience than some others is a plus in my book. I like that he is forward about his past, and was against the war (as was I) before the first bomb was ever dropped. For me, it's either Obama or Gore. Better yet, both at the same time. Gore/Obama 08.
danhall, will you elaborate on which policies of Obama you like the most? I cannot find any info on his website, other than his vote and continued non-support of the war, regarding his beliefs, philosophy, and policies. (Hilary can be another thread if someone dares to go there, but I don't see anything on her site either giving her position and solutions on the issues which we face.) Seems to me, Obama is waiting for public opinion to determine his position. :idontno:

Surely, SJ, there are a few things to chew on in there. I like that he is interested in working towards universal health care. That is something you just don't hear the other side discuss very much.I love that he is ready to restrict the clobbyist culture in Washington, get big business out of our government. That he was consistently against the war puts him FAR ahead of the others for me. I sat in disbelief as W. announced the beginning of military action in Iraq. That we as a country couldn't see through that thin veil of deceit still bothers me four years later. The Middle East is not a chess game, and if it were a chess game, I would give them more credit than the administration did (greeted as liberators, rose petals at our feet, last throes, blah, blah, blah).

The most important thing about Obama, in my eyes, is the way he approaches any given topic. Things will arise that we cannot now foresee. I can tell that he would not put his ego in the way of making the right decision or reversing a course of action. He is a thinking man with a firm grasp on reason and logic, a SCHOLAR, and seems to be able to understand that things are very often muddled in shades of grey and riddled with doubt. He has seen the lower rungs of society in a way the many of the entrenched Beltway fat cats could not imagine. He is interested in having single-party talks with Iran and Syria. HE CARRIES HIMSELF LIKE A GROWN MAN. That is a good start.

Thanks for the link, danhall. I will check it out later when I have more time. If the race were ran strickly based on who seems to be the most honest and less career oriented, from the very little I have seen of the candidates, Obama might be my choice, but I don't vote like that, so I will do some reading, and hope to find his answers to our policies. Sure, there are unknowns which will arrise, and I do like a person who will think on their own, with The People in mind. I don't get that warm fuzzy feeling when reading about the other candidates, so I hope to find some good info on your link.
Thanks again.
