i always just assumed that most prom dresses are assumed to be shed during the course of the evening to do the nasty - don't really know for sure what it means, i've just always heard it.

this makes it clear as mud

One of my co-workers told me about taking her teenage daughter to buy a dress for a dance. She waited patiently outside the fitting room while her daughter tried dresses on. Then she heard her daughter say, "This one is really hard to get on." Lee told her their search was over and this was the dress to buy - certainly it would be as hard to get off as it was to get on!
