Take 1/2 of what you have in your pack and leave it! Then do it again.

I spent 15 days in Amsterdam one night.

Oh, God! Sounds like one of our travel itineraries. We've been to those places many times, and Mr. BR has been there uncountably many times on business. You'll have a blast, gull! I adore Paris -- I cry every time I'm standing at a point where I see the The Eiffel Tower and the Arc De Triomphe. Amsterdam is fabulous. Love The Amstel Hotel. You *must* see the Anne Frank house. And ride one of those boats around the canals, even if it is nauseatingly touristy.

Have funn, gull. If you need any restaurant recommendations, pm me.

I agree. Go to the Anne Frank house if you can. The best places to eat are going to be in either the Rembrandtplein or the Leidseplein, the two biggest squares. Just ask the locals for the best restaurant to go to. It's been 7 yrs since I have hung out there. Most food will be Turkish, Indo, mainly ethnic. For a drink go to the American Hotel. That's where a lot of music and artists hang out. Lots of funn.

Enjoy!!

Cab drivers in Amsterdam are almost as scary as those in NYC. One of our stories from Amsterdam is about when our cab driver had a wreck with us in the taxi  , and we were stranded. We ended up walking to the Anne Frank house.

The only time we checked out the red light district was in a cab. We didn't get out. Thank goodness Beach Jacket was too young to get it.
