about flying! As some of you may be aware...I hate it. And, I haven't flown for two years...Fill me in on this 3 oz. stuff, etc. I think we are checking bags since mr. dd is taking his golf clubs--I know this may shock you:shock: ! Anyway, tell me all the newest tips. I'm too lazy to go to any other website to look.

I know that everything that you have in your carry on that's liquid based (hair gel, hair spray, etc...) has to fit in a quart sized zip-lock. My silly little sister had $40 worth of hair products tossed in the trash two weeks ago because she didn't know any better.

but I could put it in the carry on, huh? of course, it's my luck, they'll lose the luggage. they did last time...:pissed:

DD, it's easy. Any personal items that are creams, gels, lotions or glosses have to be put in a 1 qt. baggie and can not exceed 3 oz. They will allow slightly over 3 oz., but they don't advertise it.

This means small toothpastes, liquid lipsticks etc.

Now the TSA is taking bags, not the counter reps, so a suggestion is keep the baggy in one of your outer pockets of your luggage if you are checking it, and if it is carry on, you have to take it out for examination.

I checked one suitcase last week, and my baggie was opened and sprawled all over the outer case, so they are really going through the bags thoroughly. I would take the 1 qt baggie with me on my carry on.

You and Mr. DD are allowed one 1 qt baggy each.

They do not seem to be concerned with lipsticks that are not liquid. I had 1 in my purse.

ok...i think i got it. thanks!!

If you have any doubt, check it! When I flew back from my mom's last fall, I had a few things taken away. I just wasn't thinking when I left her house. She had given me my late Grandpa's lighter and I put it in my purse. It was the old fashioned kind that you had to buy fuel for. It was empty but they didn't care. I felt horrible. We were late so I let them take it. :(( My mom will never know about this.

So no lighters & no liquid over 3 oz. Oh and If you buy a drink, buy it AFTER you go through the gate. I had to throw my coke away too. Also, be prepared to remove your shoes.

Thanks, OL! I hate that about your Grandpa's lighter! :pissed:

Thanks for reminding OC. No lighters. You can carry matches though.
Don't forget your licenses and keep them with your boarding pass.
Get to the airport at least an hour earlier. The security is taking much longer to get though. They board planes 15 mins. before takeoff and you do not want to be late.

If you are taking a laptop, be prepared to take it out of the case and put in the bin along with jackets and shoes.
