Student Driver Signs

New posts
Franny! In all due seriousness, that's a grayt idea. Of course you would need 7 numbers/letters, such as "Call 1(800)mom-Ndad" or
"Call 1(800)PARENTS"

Here's how it would work. Parents would call the oranization. Register their license plate number, code it in with the parents phone number.

When a vigilant motorist spots improper driving by a 'student' driver, they could call 1(800)Parents, and the call would be rerouted to either the parents or a service that would relay the message to the parents.

The parents can then track down their kid, take the keys away, and slap the crap out of them!

I think this actually does exist here in Texas.

No need to call parents about the driving because we have to be with her - white knuckles and all!

She's already had someone honk at her because she turned a corner too slowly...she actually stopped then turned.

She's scared enough, she actually likes the idea of posting "student driver" on the car. I was surprised at that! She is really at the very early learning stage. Permit only/no license yet. I like the idea of people staying 200 or 300 feet away from her - for her protection and theirs.

That sweet girl and you will be just fine. I can tell that she's a sensible kid so I guess it really is all the idiots out there you gotta be concerned about.....like my friend when we were in high school. She got her license and picked me up for summer school in her mom's big ole station wagon. When she turned right, she forgot to turn the wheel back straight and we drove through the medical clinic lawn!

i need one of these signs to put on my cars - i hate to drive and when i am forced to drive, i poke like an old fart....

I met this couple last week who bought a truck for their son and he had it painted ORANGE...all I could think of was doesn't he know he will stick out like a big ole piece of fruit for everyone to report to his parents if he does something naughty ! I guess I was thinking of my own teenage driving skills. :floor:

Rita, I love that pic under your Member Name with the dolphin and the cow. That is sooooooo cool.

OK, this stayed on our refrig until the children were grown.

ATTENTION All Teenagers .... go ahead and leave home while you still know everything:roll:

Our 15 year old has her learner permit.

We're deciding what kind of sign to put on the car when she is driving. For example, the magnetic ones or the "top hat" kind. :idontno:

Any input from ya'll is welcome.

How many hours does your state require that she drives before she can get her license? My son is about to get his license but he had to drive 50 hours first (& this is above and beyond driving school). We kept a little notebook and logged every 15 minutes. It takes awhile to log 50 hrs. He's now driven everywhere, even home from Chicago every Sat., merge lanes and all (& with horns blowing at him!). Now the true test is drivng through our Walmart parking lot! It's the worst!

I'm feeling pretty good now. We'll see tho after his first time on his own!

God be with you. I like the sign idea that is removed before they see it. I think most other drivers could tell my kids were student drivers by one look at me; frozen smile, wide eyed, crash helmut on, repeatedly saying "your fine, good job, check your mirror, slow down just a bit".

I never yelled or fussed at all. I didn't clutch the dashboard. I never dodged the signs on my side of the car if we got to close or when we went off the shoulder. I did have the Flintstone brakes on a great deal and drank heavily before we left the house
