RO, I am impressed.... yes, they are in the same family as retreivers and also have the web feet so they can swim well. They are much bigger than labs and goldens and have a lot more hair:eek: (vacuum endlessly). They are probably more similar to St. Bernard in size -- remember the dog in Beethoven, when he would shake the spooge would go everywhere? Well, they aren't as bad as that breed, but I do follow them around with a dish towel after they drink water:roll:

But, they are my

when our oes was living we burned up a sweeper every 6 months and i mean literally burned up - her hair got to be about 8 inches long in winter. how quickly do you have to replace vacuums with newfies ?

I've seen them in action as rescue dogs in Greenland or Iceland it seemed. I know they are very big and very strong swimmers. Didn't one win the big prize dog show a year or two ago? Do they have a gentle nature? They sure look like they do.

yes, i think that was a newfie named josh and it may even have been the westminster.

Impressive again :clap_1: .... I didn't expect this wealth of knowledge from you after I got Allifunn's scoop. You are correct on all... they are rescue dogs, they compete as working breed dogs and as Audie found... Josh did win in 2004 (my first Newfie, Belle, was in love with him as she watched him on the big screen).... not typical for giant breed dogs to win so it was exciting for Newfielovers everywhere! They are very gentle and loyal... Nana (the dog in the nursery) on PeterPan was a Newfie. It's funny that people are more scared of the big dogs and those are the ones that will lick you to death if they can get you! :funn:

I do vacuum a good bit and did spring for a good one, but I have had this one for a few years. I change the bag OFTEN though and dustbust in between.... their hair is maybe 3-4 inches longest? :idontno:

OK - didn't you say you weren't addicted to this site? :nono1::floor: :floor:

As I said, Alli likes to embellish ;-)

ok..let's talk about this vacuuming thing. I vacuum every other day and I'm still fighting a losing battle. It's my fault for making Maggie an inside dog, but dang.....:bang: Any suggestions, NG, Audie, RO? I'm thinkin' of shavin' Maggie for the summer--I can't take it anymore!!!
