Okay Skunky...

New posts
...it is now time for you (and me) to redeem ourselves. This time I want explicit instructions with map in order to drive the Skunky Way to SoWal from Dallas. Remember last time was a bust. You have some time...we are leaving on FRIDAY, APRIL 13th. This is already not looking so good.

OK, take I-20 out of Big D to Shreveport. In Shreveport, take I-49 south. Exit I-49 at HWY 190 (Opelousas exit) and go toward Baton Rouge. Here is the tricky part...as you are getting near Baton Rouge, you will take HWY 415 (poorly marked, look for a 'to I-10' sign) north to I-10. Be on the lookout for the 415 sign after you pass Camille's Restaurant. You should NOT cross the Mississippi on HWY 190;if you do, U-turn and go find 415. Hwy 415 hits I-10, go on I-10 east until you hit I-12;go on I-12 and bypass New Orleans;you will pick up I-10 again in Slidell, Louisiana. I-10 brings you to SOWAL...pick your favorite entry point into Walton, I like HWY 331, but some say exit 56 to the Mid-Bay Bridge is better. Remember, no speeding through Krotz Springs, LA (but you can stop at Billy's for boudin). Good luck:biggrin:

Miss Kitty, this is the best part of the message. Always stop where the food is recommended (especially when it comes from a trusted source  ). Gotothebeachmom sent us to a small hole in the wall in Alabama on our way to Atlanta, and man o man it was the best southern meal we'd had in a long time! If Skunky says eat at Billy's, eat at Billy's.

If I am not mistaken, this is where I got RO's boudin in October. Not sure if it was Billy's, but it was Krotz Springs because I remember thinking....well, never mind what I was thinking...
