Beach Fanatic
Mr. OM is FREAKING OUT about sand and the washer/dryer.

Even if I strip the kids down at the beach, put other clothes on them, shake out the towels and the suits... there's still the little, tiny black sand in the dryer vent after it's all said and done.

He had the vacuum in the dryer yesterday, wondering aloud about the wear & tear on washers/dryers in regards to sand from our trip to the beach on Wednesday.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated by Mr. OM  (AKA Mr. Clean!) It will be appreciated by me because he will chill out. :funn: Oh, I  him!

You might want to try rinsing the clothes off outside with a hose, pull pockets out first too. I think it's more important to rinse sand off people first before showering as I had to have a pipe in the wall replaced because it was filled with sand

As far as washer appliance, there is a drain with a hose connected and that hose goes up, so sand can collect in that. The drain is down below in the washer and your husband can easily clean that himself to lower the wear and tear on that.
Not much you can do with the dryer though.

It's the beach!

There is good reason to purchase cheap washer and dryers when you live at the beach. The cheap ones will handle most everything. Ask him to wash the dryer filter in the dishwasher every once in a while to remove the build up of fabric softner, and keep on keeping on. A little sand never hurt anyone, unless it was stuck between their wet legs and they had a long walk to the house. ;-)

That's what I say!

Thanks for the info! I rinse them off with suits on and then with suits off. I have trouble with then rinsing suits/towels only because I have Buddha in my arms and by that time he is pretty P.O.ed at me. :idontno:

Mr. OM/Rockstar will just have to go on all beach outings and supervise the rinsing of booties and suits. :funn:

We purchased this set before moving here or even knowing that we would any time soon! Even if it was cheap, he'd still use the mantra, "It'll last a helluva lot longer if you freakin' take care of the darn thing!" :D

No fabric softener here... can't stand the smell.:nono1:

Don't worry Audie, we wont hose you down when you come off the beach.

The only thing I worry about tracking in is dog poo. Give me the beach anyday.

I will second that motion as I sit here raising my hand in the air. Everybody else in the office is looking at ma and wondering what the he** I am doing. Pretty funny.
