Just got off the phone with Jenny and she's on her way now to pick up the dogs and yes, it looks like the weekend was a hit. It sounded so good that it got me to wondering if I could sneak a day or two away from SoWal just to toodle on down to Cedar Key and take a look for myself!

What a cool place. I will post a trip report and pics (when Will gets home and puts them on the computer for me).

Our next visit will be longer than a weekend. It was heaven.

OK- very quick trip report. We LOVED Cedar Key- it is a very laid back fishing town. Flip flops are almost too dressy. Lots of seafood to eat, water to explore, a few shops, and views that are gorgeous.

These pics were taken in back of our condo at Old Fenimore Mill, which is located on a small peninsula about 2 blocks from the marina area. We did not drive the car the whole weekend!!:clap_1:

We rented kayaks and went out on a boat tour to 2 other keys. The tides are so exaggerated here and the changes between low and high tides are cool. There are also horsheshoe crabs!

The only bummer of the weekend was the big event- the Airboat Fishing Tournament. OMG- I have never been around 1 airboat, much less about 100 of them. Loud and obnoxious does not begin to describe the sound of them, and the 6 am shotgun start on Saturday morning was hopefully the closest I will ever come to having a heart attack. We had the window open in our bedroom to hear the waves- I didn't know!

The rest of the day, people apologized every where we went- "It is usually quiet here- this is the one weekend a year that we hate!!" I guess we didn't look like airboat people! :floor: The locals don't like the air boats either!

Some of my most beautiful beach "art" pieces came from a shop in Cedar Key. Also some of the best fried shrimp ever at that old stilt restaurant in town.

The final grade- A++ despite the the noisy boats! We can't wait to go back and stay longer this time! I could sit on our deck all day and watch the birds and dolphins- and the dolphins were amazing- a huge pod was herding fish in very shallow water. Lots of splashing very close to us!!

Bad news- if you are talking about the one that sits by itself, about all that is left are the stilts.
