Well, the ball dropped, Squirt is on the other computer, Fuzz is in NoWal being "re-sworn" 
and I'm watching black-eyed peas soak, planning which bowl games to watch tomorrow, and sitting with my front door open trying to recover from a hot flash. In other words, a perfect evening in the Shallows!

Grayton Beach sunset was cold as a mofo. but it was warm at home the rest of the night with football and Dick Clark - oh man, allifunn and I freaked out seeing him on TV - did he have a stroke? Uno was a huge hit! sleep by midnight an even bigger hit!

stoke? I think Dick Clark is about 97 years old, so maybe he just moves a bit slower than he used to.

I didn't know, but there was something very wrong with him physically, though his mind was sharp as ever. It was really shocking to see him like that.

What my daughter did on New Year's Eve ...
... was get engaged! She and her boyfriend went to the beach before midnight, and he started setting off fireworks because she really likes fireworks on NYE. Right at midnight he asked her if she wanted to try one. He knew she'd say no because she's scared to do it herself. So then he said, "How about this?" He handed her a box with an engagement ring in it and popped the question. They were both so cute -- so excited! We expected it, so we had a bottle of champagne ready for us to make a toast to their future together.
We like him a lot. He's very sweet and loves our daughter, and is smart, a hard worker, very motivated, very well-mannered, and handsome as well. He is an undergrad at Georgia Tech, and they plan to get married after they get their undergrad degrees. Then they both plan to go to grad school. He already has research grants and has published papers in professional journals. She is doing web and logo design for a company in California.
