What you are neglecting to mention as well is, that most illegal immigrants who came to this country without proper documentation DID NOT cross the Mexican border at all. Most of them come to the United States legally and then don't leave. (Visa overstays!) About 700,000 travelers to the United States overstayed their visas in fiscal 2017 according to Homeland Security!

There were just 300,000 apprehensions (meaning they were caught) along the Southern border, according to Customs and Border Protection, the lowest number since 1971.

Regarding your comment about the total number of "adults apprehended"... that means they were CAUGHT and are NOT here illegally but were sent back to their country of origin!
