I wish this was not true but here it is. Donald Trump will win this election IF Biden does not do this one thing: take the lead on condemning Violence whether it be crime or protest. BTW violent protest is crime! The republican party has firmly seized on the democratic party being soft or non-existent on "mob" behavior. Trump will even attempt to label Biden as the leader of a party that uses violence to initiate social and institutional change. Defund the Police is happening (Seattle for example) and even African American women (the most oppressed group in this country) who are police chiefs are quitting! Trump is such a master opportunist otherwise known as Machiavellian. After the last Presidential election it is time for the democratic party to stop shooting themselves in the foot. Isn't that ironic? We can't let happen to Biden what happened to Hillary. We can't keep making excuses about why Hillary lost. A stunning upset will happen again if Biden does not do anything about the violence. I don't know what he can do except maybe say it over and over again "Violent protesting is a crime" or "I will give you a voice but you need to stop the violence". More and more people will feel like they have to vote for a President that will protect them. Violence (politically it is called mob behavior) is now the number one issue. Not character. Not the pandemic. Not inequality. Not social change. Of course those are issues that democrats are now firmly the leader of but if they do not deal with the issue of violence first then Trump will eat their lunch. Trump will eat both breakfast and dinner with "you will not be safe with Biden". Both urban America and rural America will demand a President who will protect them. It should be obvious that Trump is the cause of these violent protest but apparently more and more people are blaming the liberals, the left, the Antifa, the socialist etc. This movement to push back on liberal ideals is happening everywhere so the Democratic party will need to decide how far left they want to be. I wonder if the democratic party will have to pull back on the reins if they want enough votes to win these elections. I hope someone can prove me wrong because I feel that change is absolutely necessary but will not come at all if the violence is not handled correctly. We can't solve institutional racism with violence. I don't know the answers to institutional racism. Police unions may be a clue because we are protecting bad people that should not be in law enforcement.

To be honest I did not realize how much sexism and misogyny was out there.
You should see this up close and personal. Take a look at Walton County Admin and see how they roll. Definitely not les bon temps for non-male, non-white, apolitical humans. LV2 could speak to this but won't. Some posters here, like many Rump supporters, abandon truth and values when it benefits them, helps them settle a lawsuit or otherwise lines their pockets or their vanity.

It didn’t really matter to the attendees because they’re too ignorant to realize they are living in trump’s America. Too stupid to admit this is happening on the watch of Mr. “I Alone Can Fix It.” Too unwillingly to admit they did nothing except cede power to a buffoon when they controlled all three branches of government for two years and still control two thirds.

Yes, this is related to this thread. The following are just three of many unsavory "management" tactics not recognized by all not in management roles for what they truly are but pervasive since forever and especially in the most recent years, months and days.

The Unsavory and Dangerous Manager's Tutorial:
  1. Glean from your colleagues and staff the best ideas that serve your personal agenda. Quietly shoot down those ideas. Resurrect those same ideas after a period of time and proudly claim them as your own.
  2. Identify the issues, problems, fears and circumstances that are important to others. Stoke the fears, exploit the issues and circumstances, and throw sand in the face of problems. Step back and watch the divide, the infighting and accusations. Step in, as a "saviour", to rectify the problem.
  3. Recognize those individuals and groups who, based on their fears and concerns, feel they have the most lose. Nurture those fears and concerns, enlist them to search their personal memories for incidents they perceive (or could perceive if twisted slightly) to be unfair, unjust or not in their own personal interests. Incite those individuals and groups to speak up, speak out and push for the achievement of their (really your) agenda.
Watch out for these kinds of "managers. leaders'', administrators and politicians. Their interests are veiled and more than likely don't align with yours in any way, shape or form. Think locally, nationally and globally but perhaps most important in small communities such as yours, think locally.

I would call that "upper management" in terms of my experience in the corporate world. In my experience as a store manager I found that at some point you have to decide if you want to be on the side of customers and employees or corporate bullies. Managers had meetings every week from the corporate bullies and their management practices and your "tutorials" are amazingly similar. It all comes down to smoke and mirrors. Kind of like tell your employees that you are on their side while having a completely different agenda. The agenda is always greed when it comes to the way corporations operate. I know you are talking more about local government but like you say it is applies to many leaders, administrators and politicians if not all. When I was a young manager I believed the BS but my conscience allowed me to say wait a minute something is not adding up here. If we would just listen to our conscience it will help us be more aware of false prophets! I do think the value of money has taken over the value of humanity in many ways. We can blame Capitalism but our political system is very much at fault. Both political parties need a lot of money. The formula is money equals power. It is hard to listen to your conscience when you are rich and in power because the unfairness of our political and economic system has rewarded you. It is like their conscience has been replaced with self importance. It is hard to listen to your conscience when you are poor because well it is about survival. This is the reason why a strong middle class is so important in society. Not poor enough to be desperate for food and healthcare and not rich enough to have justified away your conscience. If we the people would vote on the one issue of maintaining a strong middle class we would have less poor people and less rich people. But in terms of the last 4 years we have had the biggest and loudest and richest bully of all taking us down the path of smoke and mirrors...
