Hi, SoWal people. Here we are on the eve of a new year. Here's hoping that all your dreams come true in the year to come. Tonight I am thinking about all the things I'm thankful for. One near the top of my list is for this beautiful place and the sense of community that we have. We have been through a lot of joyful events, scary storms and the fallout from same, some great tragedies, especially this year's holiday season. And we have all made new friends, renewed old friendships, supported one another through transition and adversity, and enjoyed this place better for most of it. One can never have too many friends and supporters. Having known this place for most of my life, I can say that it is enhanced by the stewardship, caring, and presence of those of you who have discovered the beaches, loved and cared for them so well. Heartfelt thanks to all for that, especially from this prodigal native.
Another thing I am thankful for is the removal of the revolting sulfur vapor light next to Conch Out, which was responsible for the crushing of nesting turtles and the loss of sleep in my master bedroom on the third floor. Mr. VIP at Chelco, you know who you are and please accept my thanks. Our Lady of the Sea Turtles, my thanks to you, also.
Happy New Year and above all, have a safe evening, everyone!
