I don't either. Mr. BR and I got married when we were students at Tulane - I was 20, he was 24. We were just busy studying and trying to pay our bills when I turned 21. It also wasn't a big deal to turn 21 because the drinking age was 18 in NOLA then, so I had been legal for 3 years.
My daughter just turned 22. She was depressed about it. She said that she had looked forward to all of her other birthdays, but after 21, none are worth looking forward to. Hey, I'll trade. I'd rather be 22 than my age.
PV, hope you had funn last night and no hangover this AM.
your daughter has a point - you look forward to 21 for so long, then in one day it's over....suddenly drinking doesn't hold the same appeal, at least it didn't to me...
Yes, I had funn. No, I'm not hungover. Yes, I do have to work today. (And the next three days after that.)
BB, I wasn't drinking that night we all went to 331. They marked my hands with big black X's to signify my underage-ness.
BR - I look forward to all my birthdays. To me it's like saying, "congratulations, you've survived another year!"
My brother kept telling me I needed to go out and get drunk yesterday. His words: "Forget school! Have one of your friends drive you around and just drink until you pass out." I told him that alcohol isn't going to taste better to me just because I'm allowed to have it now. And then I had to remind him that last time he drank that much, he passed out under a tree, his friends painted his toenails black, and he broke his foot trying to walk home through the woods at midnight.
