Me dying because their religious ideas prevent me from getting a life saving medical procedure is a bit more worrisome.

I'm trying to get the right politicians elected, but the corporations and special interests are thwarting me at every turn.

I blame it on poor education, xenophobia, and misinformation perpetrated by those with an agenda.

Public education in this country is getting kicked in the balls and the overall level of intelligence is diminishing IMO.

Homeschooling and a bunker full of gold are looking more and more valid.

Bob's entire point, I am assuming.

Also, people are just completely without any working knowledge about our history, our constitution, and what our government stands for. I don't really blame it on religion. I blame it on poor education.

To me, it's not a coincidence that education is on the leaning edge in budget cuts all over the country. It serves a certain type of politician to keep the populace as uneducated as they can. What better way to get your understanding of the constitution than to watch Fox News, right? :sarc:

It's not just one political party that benefits from an uneducated populace.

Which may be why so many seem hell bent on bringing back the Dark Ages and the fall of the Roman Empire.

Clearly you can't handle the responsibility of being able to get pregnant. They should pass a law against that. :D

I love my country, and the fact that it allows everyone the right to voice their opinions....right, or wrong.

I have more faith in an omnipotent God, than in an omnipotent government though. I have belief, but don't connect to any man-modified, bastardized "religion". Call me what you will, but I'd rather believe and have faith, and find out I was wrong (and have you laugh at me all the while), than to have no belief or faith and find out I was wrong. Faith gives me comfort when "things" are beyond my "control"....without it, I'd probably be balled up in a corner, rocking, and rocking, and rocking....... If I'd have spent my life putting my faith in my "country" (assuming that it means the governing body), I'd be in a rubber room by now. While I don't claim to be an authority, I feel sure that those who draw an either/or line in the sand when it comes to the subject of God are so self-absorbed and close-minded to see that the truth is that nobody knows the answer of what is/was....and "history" is nothing more than a good novel.

For me, "God" is that little voice we all hear within ourselves that let's us know, instinctively, right from wrong.....without someone telling us which is which.

And clearly a woman should be punished for letting herself get raped while she was fertile. She must have been something to deserve it, eh? Of course that harlot should have to carry that fine man's baby to term in those circumstances.

Just trying to clarify your position.
