I know, I know, I weight down the SoWal funn with depressing and political news, but I can't help it!! I'm an activist. Well, at least one from my computer chair.
For those of you who've not heard about it, there is a documentary called Invisible Children that has sparked a movement within the US. The film, originally intended to tell the story of the civil war in Northern Uganda that has been raging for 20 years, focuses on displaced children and child soldiers.
On Saturday, April 28th, Invisible Children will be holding what they call Displace Me. It is a chance for the public to urge the government to support peace talks in Uganda. During Displace Me, people will imagine what it is to live as a displaced person for twenty-four hours, sleeping in streets if need be. This is planned for fifteen cities across the country, including Orlando. I am seriously considering attending and would like to see if anyone would be interested in joining me. I can't think of any better way to finish out the semester.
For information, visit InvisibleChildren.com. If you search Invisible Children on Google, you will be able to find the film which runs just over 55 minutes long.

"Join thousands of others who say, 'Displace me,' and leave your homes to bring them home."
