Dog issues

Okay, I know I have needy dogs, but I do love them. The youngest, Sophie, is being a real pain. She eats all sorts of random things, then decides to throw up whatever she did not like. My other Bichon, Maggie, is a bit neurotic and will only eat off paper plates. Except for that quirk, she is a pretty good dog. Sophie has taken to eating the paper plates as well.

So what do I do with Sophie who feels the need to eat anything and everything????:idontno: This barfing issue is driving me nuts!!! I am even having to have to sofa cleaned because of her accident this weekend. :bang: :bang:

Gosh, I don' know.:idontno: Jdarg?

Nevermind...she's celebrating her b'day..

Pretend you have a 1 year old baby that has just learned to walk. Remember how you would do a "sweep" of the house, and put away anything that could be picked up and put in a 1 year old mouth?

Do it again. You have a 1 year old.

And crate the dogs when you are not at home. It is not "mean" to do this- if your dogs are eating everything, it may save their lives.

I can't give you any advice except to say that this matches the story my sister told me last week. She has four pugs, from the ancient, blind, deaf and beloved Christabel down to the baby sister pugs who decided that they no longer liked each other. Talk about cat fights. My sister was in tears thinking that if she didn't come up with a solution, she'd have to find new homes for at least one. Luckily, she figured something out: she put little soft infant socks on their feet and let the girls duke it out. They eventually got tired of not being able to inflict any damage on each other and quit it. Now life is back to normal in pugland.

What a smart sis!! How did she think of that? :idontno:

Waaaal, you will remember this is the same sister who put a diaper on her 2nd pug, Archie, the one they rescued. Archie's masculine dignity was offended by wearing sanitary napkins so he eventually quit having accidents. My sister has learned to be very creative because she loves her puggies. (She's also a high school teacher so no problem is too big to tackle. )

We use crates, and both girls enjoy them. The problems occur when I am home. Wonder if she is jealous because I have work to do? Sounds like a toddler. Time to put everything up again....she is worth the effort.

Be glad you have them. For about the first week and a half after our Mo got sick, and him near 13. I was having to clean up his throw up 3 different times, off of our hardwood floors. My husband had to clean it up one other time. And all I have is the haunting memory of our dog's lifeless body laying on the exam table after he was euthanized. One that won't leave my head. Our dog was having major food issues the last month of his life. I bought everything under the sun I thought he would eat, cooked for him, only to have him turn his nose up at most of it. And that was way before his diagnosis the last week of his life. For one month I had a daily battle with trying to get him to eat anything, especially enough to get his insulin shot, which is another thing that took him down, loss of control of his blood sugar.
