feather in the sand

Does anyone know about the feathers that are placed in the sand at about 10' intervals along the beach in Grayton and beyond? What is the significance and who does it?

Don't know the significance of the feathers, but I've seen the man placing in the sand on several occasions.

I noticed them in Seaside last week. It must be hard on the seagull population.

I noticed them in BMB yesterday. It seemed to be following a path of the current high water mark, based on the sand ridge..... Good exercise with a lot of bending and walking....
