Hooray, beer!

Guinness also aids in making some rather tasty chocolate cupcakes.

Hmmm....
8. CLEAR UP BROWN SPOTS IN YOUR LAWN
According to Andrew Lopez, a professional gardener, the fermented sugars in beer stimulate plant growth and kill fungi. He recommends spraying either home brew or Rolling Rock (both are chemical-free) on those annoying brown spots in your lawn. (Either that, or just stop peeing there.) "The grass will absorb the sugar in the beer and draw energy from it," Lopez explains.

I'll have to try this. Huggs and Kisses are pretty good about going in the natural areas, but sometimes..... we'll be able to tell soon with Spring already here :clap_1:

i think i am going to go home and marinate some meet and make bbq sauce with my beer. sounds like a good meal :D

It is good, although I have had it just marinated in beer only with some maple syrup believe it or not in place of the sugar in the marinade.

recipe pleeeeze. :D

Guinness cupcakes (not for dieters!!!) -- makes 2 dozen

2 c Guinness
2 sticks butter
3 c sugar
1 1/2 c unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 c sour cream
4 eggs
2 t vanilla
4 c flour

Preheat oven to 350.
Put Guinness and butter in a saucepan and heat just until butter is melted. Whisk in sugar and cocoa, set aside.
In a large bowl, combine sour cream, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Add beer/butter mixture. Add flour 1 cup at a time, mixing well before adding more flour. Portion into paper-lined muffin tins and bake 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely before icing.

Icing:
8oz cream cheese
1 c confectioner's sugar
1 1/2 c heavy cream
any Guinness that is left in the bottle (optional)

Whip cream cheese at med-high speed until smooth. Add sugar and beat until smooth. Add cream and beat until smooth (again) and fluffy. Add a splash of Guinness to give the icing more flavor, or, if that doesn't appeal to you, just drink the rest of the beer.
