A friend has a free ticket for me to the Fox tonight to see "Broadway Presents, All Shook Up". A musical/comedy review with Elvis music. The problem is I don't really feel like going. I want to go home and watch the American Idol special and relax in my own living room. Will I regret not going to the Fox tonight? Help me please!!

I have learned to say no when I don't feel like doing something. It took me a long time to get there. If you really want to go home and curl up in your own living room, then that is what I would do. Plus, the special is going to be good tonight. ;-)

I know! Thanks for the advice. I am also learning to be honest when necessary. Or at least I'm doing better.

That's a hard one, is it very far from where you live? How much do you love Elvis' music? Will you be tired the rest of the week at work? Is it worth it? Knowing me, I'd probably stay home and watch Idol.;-) Is it really a special this week or a regular show? Who's the special guest mentor person?

Steele Mama, I understand the desire to want to sit at home on your nice comfy sofa and watch a little TV. The truth is, they will broadcast that episode of American Idol again, and you will probably watch it in the future. The show at the Fox and the invitation, is fairly unique.

I am often reminded by my little everyday life experiences, that my memory is mostly made up of unique experiences. I tend to forget about all of the sitting at home and hours of television watched. The things which I remember are events like going to see a play, a paddle on my canoe on a particular lake, a concert which I attend, the moment on the beach when I see a Sea Turtle, when an old friend comes to visit, eating breakfast with some people who claim that their transmission broke leaving them trapped in SoWal, etc. It is a compilation of all of these different than norm things, which I tend to treasure most when reflecting on life. A calm day at the beach is nice, but to be on the beach during a storm, that is something to remember. Take that ticket and experience a night at the Fox. The tv will still be in your house when you return.

PS- you can always catch American Idol in segments on youtube.com.

I knew someone was going to say that! :pissed: Fortunately for me, I do get to go to the Fox somewhat often, not saying that I wouldn't totally enjoy the performance. I know I would love it. Also, I am a little spoiled with the Coke seats and I don't know where I will be sitting. It won't be the seat I have grown accustomed to.

You're not going to like my answer any better than SJ's because I agree with him. I'd never turn down a chance to see a live performance, especially at the beautiful Fox theatre.

I know what you mean about wanting to stay at home, but I also know that every single time I've had the choice, and I've "made myself" go out, I've always been glad that I did.

Steele Mama, you know you can trust my advice because I'm an Idol fan just like you.

I also just checked the Idol schedule and tonight it is 1 hour with the final six performing. Tomorrow is 2 hour with all the special guests, Carrie U. Celine D, etc., etc, etc,
I really need a date though. Plus I will spend $$ on dinner and parking. How can people afford to go when they have to actually pay for a full price ticket? I'm still waffleing, waffeling.
