I woke up at 6am to let the dogs out and this owl was trapped in our almost finished (screened in) pool area.
He had gotten in the only area that isn't screened...a door and couldn't find his way out.
After a brief discussion with my husband and after closer examination of his talons, I decided it might not be a good idea to add him to my many pets, rather, it would be better to help him find a way out.

It took about a half hour but I finally backed him up and out the door.

Isn't it beautiful?
Any idea of what type owl it may be?

He/she is beautiful!!!!!!! So cool!!!!! Glad you were able to get him out safely.

That's a baby Great Horned owl. Mom and Dad should be around somewhere close. You should hear them calling back and forth.

That's one of the coolest pics I've seen outside of National Geographic. I collect owls but have never seen a real live one in nature. How lucky are you!

Who dat? That is one awesome pic. Good decision on not tangling with those talons!

:D Wow! It sure is... I Googled that and the photo's look identical.
Thank you for the info!

And thank everyone for the comments, it was a remarkable bird and I'm glad to know it will be joining mom and dad...
