That's why these threads or these questions that a poster has can be helpful to others in the long run albeit negative to some. I've never had heartburn but I know it can be horribly painful and sometimes difficult to manage and can mask other ailments.
 
I have the same problem. It's GERD. You need an EGD to check for a hiatal hernia and polyps. You could have stomach or esophageal cancer. Until then just Google and look for a GERD diet. No chocolate, alcohol, mints/gum, caffeinated beverages, oils/fatty foods, carbonated drinks, citrus fruits, spicy food, or tomatoes. Sleep on a wedge pillow, preferably on your left side. Don't lie down for at least two hours after a meal. Basically you can't eat at a Mexican or Italian restaurant any more if you want to live.

Your doc will probably prescribe Protonix, Nexium, or something like that.

It's not very fun. I'm not gonna lie -- I break the rules a lot because I'm a foodie.

Oh, and the Versed they give you when you have the EGD is the world's best drug, IMO. One of my best friends and neighbors is an anesthesiologist. She laughed when I asked her if she could give me a dose of Versed every Friday and Saturday night -- no calories and it doesn't give you the munchies. It just makes you love everyone and feel happy. She says they've had a lot of success with that drug.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. That is how I feel right now. My stomach feels yucky and I couldn't even eat dinner. :( I did chew two maalox.

I'm sneezing like crazy and my eyes and nose are itching so bad that I want to rip them from my face. :roll: I look like Bozo the clown with the red nose. Better go find the Vick's Vaporub!!:clap_1:

Let's rename this thread the "SoWal Medical Clinic".
 
we did once have a whining thread where we listed our ailments, problems, etc. I think we need to whine and provide a comprehensive list of our mental and/or physical problems. where else can you do this??? who wants to start?

LadyD - hope you get some relief real soon!!! I don't like hearing that your doctor spent so little time with you. go to another doctor if you don't get relief. thanks for asking your sowal friends for advice - very few of us are medical experts, but we can compare experiences, and we really do care.
