I read in news that he tried to get closer to shore bc of lightening and waves from storm put him on beach. Said sea tow wants $9000 to tow it back out.
I was told by someone at the scene that the owner had engine trouble and was then blown to shore about four days ago.
Could be but it seemed to me that the prop shaft had a fairly thick coating of rust, as though it had not seen a prop in a longtime and a healthy coating of barnacles on the bottom. To be sailing with the forecast as it was and without a working source of auxiliary power shows poor marine decision making to me.
I hope the owner can salvage the boat and restore it.
