A really fun daytrip is a stop at Scavengers Antiques, located on the west side of Panama City, on Highway 98. It is 16.8 miles east of Hwy. 283 and Hwy. 98 intersection, on the north side of the highway in a maroon barn. Scavenger's is a huge barn housing room after room of vintage collection items, many of them beach and nautical oriented. I could have spent the entire day there. Found a grayt 1950s ceramic lamp with a shade made of decoupage antique postcards from Panama City Beach, circa 1940s. Perfect for our kitschy Maui nannies' room. Also, two lifeguard chair lamps for our kids' bunk room. And they offer these really nice wooden Adirondack chairs, chaise footrests, tables, and benches, can be painted in any color you want. We picked up a bunch of teeny Adirondack chairs for the wee ones...sooo cute! Very good prices. Two extremely nice guys with a good eye at all the local yard sales. This is a funn way to spend the day, end up at Captain Andersons for a cold martini and some grouper fillets. You can get a combo plate of the grouper fillets with oysters or scallops if you ask nicely (not on the menu).
