Student Driver Signs

New posts
Cheering, I may take up drinking!

I'm not a good rider. I'd rather be driving.

I laughingly told daughter she'd better give me play-by-plays so I'd know that she was noticing things around her so I wouldn't be scared ... "Car on left"; "Braking in front"; "Crazy driver weaving in and out behind" .... just to keep me sane. Sounds like you were pretty laid back!

I don't know how many hours she has to log before she can get license. Bill is takig care of the paperwork and training. His personality will be able to handle this easier, so he's getting most of the job teaching her. :clap_1:

I will be registering here in about a year.

......I never yelled or fussed at all. I didn't clutch the dashboard........
I don't know how you managed that. My knuckles were white from holding onto the dashboard!!!! After I yelled I would say ....I do love you ..... just trying to get my point across:blush:

The four of them are now 18+ so I am through that "stage". My hubbie was a much better as the "teacher" than me. I tend to overreact and it showed in the actions .... like my brake leg straight out and stiff pushing the imaginery brake on my side:nono1:

You'll get through it and one day the two of you will look back and laugh at it:lol:

From that sight: "Many parents erroneously think that a driver's license means that their teen is a good driver. Rather, it simply means that on one day in the teen's life, while driving on their BEST behavior, that they could operate a vehicle with fewer than 25 mistakes during the 12 minute test. That's one opportunity every 30 seconds to kill or be killed."

 is right!

As parents we can hope we instill a "respect" for the operation of the vehicle and theirs and others lives on the road.

Driving is a skill that is improved with experience and always is in need of polishing ..... no matter how old one is.

Now, I'm dealing with an 87 year old mother who drives like a race car driver, has no patience and should not be on the road. But, if you mention she shouldn't be driving ..... look out:bang: just don't know what to do anymore:idontno:

:( ... My mom is 85 and only drives familiar roads and definitely not fast. But I'm sure the time will come when she will be a hazard. She'll likely accept it and not drive but at that point, I'm afraid she will loose some of her vitality. She loves to run around and her idependence ..... :idontno:

I feel for you. It must be a tough time. I'm sure we'll be going through something similar one of these days.

I used the sign "WIDE LOAD" with several of the girls I dated in college. It usually around 2am though, I doubt if many noticed.

I'm telling ya, a large glass of wine before you hit the street helps. This and deep breathing exercises. I did pay for the professional driving lessons as well. So it wasn't just me doing the training. I can parallel park, but can't teach anyone else how I do it to save my life.

I went so far as to stand in the parking space and "be" the parked car for reference when the kids were practicing parking skills. I know it sounds stupid, but I never got close to being hit. I was ready to move quickly though, just in case.

My ex husband said this confirms I am crazy, but he just couldn't hear the voices.

hell, i almost punch a hole thru the floor of mr audie's truck when i ride with him - his passenger side brake doesn't work very well.....

Nothing scares me anymore. During college, my ex was a professional crazed driver. No not Nascar. He used to drive a cab and an ice cream truck (not at the same time, or at the same speed mind you).

If I could ride with him I can ride with anyone.
