My opinion of Jonathan Hillstrand has increased substantially. I always thought those Time Bandit brothers were fun to watch, but Jonathan's stock has gone way up in my book as a result of his being by Phil's bedside and his interaction with Phil's sons.

Got to meet him at a "meet and greet" in the Turn 5 Club at this year's Daytona 500. Somebody asked him about Phil. He was leaving as soon as the race was over to go to the memorial service. He declined to talk about it any further not because of any non-disclosure stuff related to the she show but rather because he was deeply affected by Phil's passing. You could see it in his body language and hear it in his voice. Since I have seen the episodes, now, his reaction to the questions is much clearer...

Absolutely. I was so touched by his complete unselfishness and concern for his friend and the sons. I totally echo what you said!

Sig'll always be my fave--there's just something about him. :idontno: But, Jonathan is aces in my book!

I enjoyed watching 'after the catch' and listening to them tell stories about Phil. The birdhouses he made like doll houses. The trailer he lived in with marble tabletops and a maid that cleaned it. The way he ribbed Sig about not riding a Harley and making the boys park their bikes in the road.

He was quite a character.

I did too. Great stories. Wish I could have known him.

I think Discovery did a great job. RIP Captain Phil.

It was a great tribute to a great guy. The first hour was a little tough to watch. Heck, I even liked Keith for a few minutes last night. I hope his boys will do him proud.

I meant Discovery...got my channels mixed up.
I agree about Keith and yes, it was difficult to watch. The second hour was touching....seeing Phil on a more personal level. I had always wondered about the mom/wife.

The boys, I think, really look like their mom. I wonder if Jake is back in treatment? I hope so.

I expected last week's espisode to be tough, but I think last night's show was even tougher for me. Several emotional parts, but I really boo hooed when the Northwestern pulled out of the harbor and passed the Cornelia Marie at the dock. The Discovery camera crew did a nice job.

And it was really interesting to hear from the boys' mother.

I think poor ol' Sig was that close (thumb and forefinger held just apart) to losing it when he visited the Cornelia Marie and found out. His face and brow got very very furrowed several times before he left.
Hard to tell which boat took it the hardest. The Northwestern crew was definitely affected.

Interesting side note...
This was one of maybe two episodes (ish) during the whole series run where we have seen Norman Hansen. He's the third brother but chooses not to be on the show despite being on the crew. He was the one who arm wrestled Jake over wearing his hat crooked or straight.
