Wishing Fyi/Pippi a great college career!

My niece is moving into Cawthon Hall at Florida State University this weekend. She has been accepted into the School of Music (had to sight-sing a piece of sheet music for which she had never heard the song before :shock: )...so proud of her!

I'll never forget when my entire Italian family traveled with me to Tuscaloosa and moved me into the dorm at U of A - about 15 people packed into 2 cars - grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, siblings, etc. Really fun to think back on all that. seems like another lifetime ago.

Philippa herself made up the nickname "Fyl." Philippa is an English name and not at all unusual, in honor of Merman, whom emigrated from the UK when he was 25. Both our kids have English names and dual citizenship.

It's a beautiful name, with a grayt story and funn nicknames!

Aw, thank you both and ShallowsNole too! Thus far things are going hunky-dory at Purdue; in fact Fyl asked us not to pick her up on Saturday until after lunch, and could we please get her back before lunch on Sunday? Something to do with sorority open houses....

We would have taken an "A" in Chemistry at community college! Kitties kiddies don't do math easily. They take after their mom. That reminds me of sarafunn after her first Statistics exam in college..."Mom, I CAN do math...I made an "A" on my statistics exam!"

Aha!! You DO know what you two have done, don't you? You have given me permission to report all Philippa's academic triumphs from now on in!!! (I am going to tell my Pippi that she's up against some serious SoWal competion...I'm impressed with As in Chemistry and Statistics. Whew!)
