My oldest child is flying to Greece to see her sister. She booked a flight through a travel agency. A friend on the same flight told her the flight had been changed. When she called, she found out this was accurate. To make a long story short, she has to spend 9 hours in London and lose a day in Greece. In addition she has to change airports in London. The travel agency or airlines were NO help. They really did not car to reroute her on another carrier.

So any suggestions? I argued for 30 minutes and got nowhere. It is unbelievable to me that no one takes responsibility for this mess. What does it take to get service these days?????

Seriously, sorry to hear of her travel woes. This is one of many reasons I hate to fly. It seems like something always gets screwed up. Dang it!!

The icing on the cake was a call about an hour ago....from Philadelphiai. The plane's defroster would not work, but before the plane could land they had to burn some fuel. They circled for 1 hour before landing. At this rate, she may get there in time to come home. She was in good spirits.

I told her to have a drink once she is in the air....she deserves it!

This is why I became my own travel agent. It does not guarantee a perfect trip, but it gives me the illusion of having control over my own destiny. ;-)
One thing you could do is write a letter to the airline.
Way back when my youngest was in 8th grade, they took a class trip to Greece, and Delta screwed up one of the legs of the journey. After the trip, his teacher had everyone in the class write a letter to Delta.
Delta sent everyone $350 vouchers; my kid used it to take a trip to New York City.
