Winter Fun in Wyoming

So, I'm taking off in a week or so for Jackson Hole/Yellowstone for a few days of snowmobiling. :clap_1: It's been so long since I've done anything like this...I have no clue what I need to take with me. I hate to get cold, so I need the appropriate clothing, but I don't want to go out and spend a fortune on things I probably won't use again.

I'll be renting the snowmobile suit, but what about:
snow boots,
gloves,
inner and mid layers of clothing?

How much and what kind do I need here? Some help would really be appreciated.

pgurney, I can't help you there but snowmobiling sounds like my kind of fun. Please take some pics, would love to see them. Hopefully someone on here will answer you that has visited that area. Snow boots and gloves I would think definitely are in order, and maybe some thermals. FYI, when we were kids and would stay out all day sledding in the snow from morning until near dark, we wore at least two layers of clothes including socks. Have fun.

I think I might have to go to Wyoming to see snow!!!! I never thought I'd miss it but this 60 degree rain in January is for the birds!

I recommend Under Armour Coldgear. No bulky layers and it will keep you warm. Sounds like a lot of funn!

Do you know anything about cross-country skiing? It's a lot of fun and it will definitely keep you warm because you're moving all the time. It's no more difficult than riding a bike or kayakking. Simple, smooth movements and you see lots of wonderful scenery on the way. You can buy lots of fancy clothing if you want, but really, if all you had were silk thermals and blue jeans you could still ski (after ski, boots and pole rental, of course). Look into it! You'll love it.

Here I get layers. I'm taking it that's the Buckeye's? I grew up in Circleville - what a great place. I grew up meaning to be a Buckeye, but poo happens (or doesn't if you're LBH ;-) ).

I'd love to try cross-country skiing, but unfortunately (and fortunately) my trip has been planned by others and is short. Maybe I'll do my shopping with that in mind for the future. I used to ski, never cross-country, but I bet it's one of the most peaceful things one could ever do. Thanks for the shopping tips there!

I'm trying to decide which camera to take...and maybe you could help me out here. Will a nice digital be okay on the snowmobile? Or should I take a more weatherproof film (omg film) camera?

Oh, I'm starting to get excited about this trip.

PG, Circleville is about an hour or so from us! We used to love to go to the pumpkin show before it got soooo big. The crowds are too much.
When you get there...send some snow Ohio's way.

OMG, some of my best memories from back then are from the Pumpkin Show. I can't imagine that it could be big. Is it still downtown? I wish I could remember the name of the bakery that used to do the 6' pumpkin pie...or the ice cream shop where I had my first pumpkin ice cream....yummmmmm. I think I need to go to the Pumpkin Show this year.

And snow...we used to make igloos out of the snow drifts the plows would make. Will try to send some your way next week.

PS: Is Circleville big now? It used to be such a small little place.

 Circleville is the same I think but the Pumpkin Show got very popular and well known around the state! I remember the huge pumpkin pie! The last time we went it was almost 10 years ago. Even on a Wednesday you couldn't get through the streets. Mr OL still tells our daughter this story all the time..."Oh that was the time I slipped on a banana peel and almost dropped you." He had Sam on his shoulders and we were walking on the sidewalk on the way to the festival and he actually stepped on a banana peel, slipped and almost fell. It scared me to death to see this 6'4" man almost fall with my baby! We laughed about it later because it was like something out of a cartoon.
