Spring at South Walton Beaches

New posts
Even though I'm negatively bouyant when swimming, I believe the salt air must be condusive to endorphin production. One of the few things I will never become jaded about is that first panoramic view of the beach after a long absence.

Well said:clap_1:

Hey Donna. Definitely come to SoWal in late April for the soiree. Many of us will be in SoWal. It would be wonderful, wonderful to see you! Bring pics of your new island.

The yellow flags have been flying this week, until yesterday, when the Red Flags came out. The surf is up, the water is emerald green, and the air smells of fresh clean fish. Pompano must be getting close. The humidity is fairly high, and yesterday was a day of mist and rain. Temps are in the low 70's when the sun shines, and drops down into the low 60's at night. Today is overcast this morning and we have some more wind. People are everywhere, and the busy week of Spring Break has yet to arrive. Publix's chip, bread, and milk sections looked stripped clean. Some signs of college kids, grouped togethered in clusters of 20 people on the beach here and there. There are plenty of high-schoolers running around 30A as well. The waiting line at Pickle's in Seaside is a steady 20 people deep, even at 2:30pm. I cannot wait until tomorrow for an even busier week. Did I mention that traffic around Seaside is a nightmare? It is. Destin traffic is not too sweet either, but nothing like the summertime. Yesterday, under that red flag, the surf was bumping up to the edge of some of the imported sand placed in front of seawalls down in Blue Mtn Beach.

Donna, so good to hear from you!!! I will be in SoWal tomorrow and when I get home I will post a trip report for you. I hope you can get down soon!!!

Now, if I post my grocery list will one of you locals (you know who you are) go and get my groceries for the weekend for me? I promise I will pay you tomorrow, and I will even bribe you with something good to drink!!!! ;-) J/K...but please tell them to save me some beer at Publix. I can eat when I get home.

Now, the Sun is shining, and the sky is blue.

And I hope it is warm. I think God decided to play a joke on me this morning. It has been in the high 70's all week. And now it is freaking freezing here this morning, and we are supposed to have a hard freeze tonight. I am so glad I am heading south!!!!!!
