I want my...

New posts
Sorry about your sleep troubles. Interesting note about sleeping well while he is gone. My husband, who travels a lot, cannot sleep when he is home. By midnight he is wondering in the house. Most of the time, I do not realize he has left until the next AM.

I have heard exercise helps, but I avoid that, so maybe someone who exercises could chime in.

:floor: ...I really need to try this. I do lift my weights, but walking lots would be the next step.

Mango...I will go get some of that voodoo stuff and try it. I rarely take the Ambien and last night just confirmed it doesn't work. Lunestra was a joke for me. I've also tried that Melatonin.

audie...Mr. K wears the earplugs in this family!!!!

So is this why we haven't heard a peep from you all week? You've been sleepwalking through your days since you can't sleep at night? :(

I'm sorry the Melatonin doesn't work. My mother swears by it but on the other hand, a half pill of Ambien knocks her out for a night AND half a morning. I'd be inclined to go Mango's voodoo route--hey, it can't hurt if all lab-created drugs have failed miserably.

poor kitty - you need to work 3rd shift - you may sleep during the day, but you'll sleep like a baby - or at least i do

i want a refund on the tempur-pedic pillow i just bought. mr audie loves his, i hate mine, too hard for my delicate head....

Do you like your tempur-pedic mattress?

Please let your doc know you are going to do this. There is a popular misconception that something that is 'natural' is 'safe'. Without going into the whole speech, let me just tell you that I have seen one guy who went into a cardiac arrhythmia after taking 'herbal Viagra' (it was Bulgarian something or other). Some of those other herbs could interact with your prescriptions. Very few are standardized so lord only knows how much of anything you are really getting, and few have proved efficacy. Try what Mango suggests to see if it works for you, just let your doc know.:!:

My lord, how much did he take? :idontno:

Sound advice Skunky, but tell me, how many physicians do you know that incorporate holistic medicine with their traditional prescriptions? :idontno:

Not many;but on the other hand, how many holistic healers subject their cures to rigid testing and are willing to discontinue using those proved to be bunk, ie, garlic for cardiovascular health or echinacea for cold relief? It goes both ways:bang:

Herbs, plants, reflexology, accupressure etc. have been being used for centuries all over the world. The Chinese, Tibetans, in the Amazon etc. Has to be a reason for it and plenty of time for observation of dosing, interactions, and results. This country is still an infant compared to the knowledge of other countries and societies.

Strange how big pharmaceutical companies here are scouring the rain forests looking for new plants, barks etc. so they can synthesize them and sell for huge profits for that next great pill to cure whatever.

I am not arguing with you Skunky regarding proper rigorous testing of drug products, but when traditional medicine doesn't work, or doesn't produce the needed results in it's entirety, there are many holistic practictioners that have a great deal of knowledge and experience.

I have suggested to people including the Kitty, in the past they seek someone like this, who looks at the patients needs as whole and precribes homeopathy accordingly. I have done this myself to great benefit.

 ...yep, 3 hours straight on the sofa. This was after 4 hours of looking for light fixtures, etc. with Mr. K. He is the bestest shopper.

Thanks for all the great advice and support from my pals. I will check out your cures and yes my little Skunky, M.D....I will check with my doc first. Or, I'll send Mr. K out of town again!

I missed a call from gttbm while I was snoozing!

Looks like shopping may be the answer. :D

Miss Kitty and others. I have tried this and it works. It's called Nite-Rest, and it's an herbal blend of Calcium Carbonate, Valerian Root and bunch of other herbs. You need to take it about an hour before bed. I haven't tried this brand, my doctor makes his own blends in house, but this one is the closest to what he makes. I take it every now and then and it puts me right out. Can't hurt to try it with sleep aids since it's all natural. :idontno:

Make sure it has Passionflower, which will keep you asleep. Things like Chammomile & Lemon Balm relax you, Valerian will put you to sleep (although smells like stinky sneakers!) and Passionflower keeps you asleep.

There are also homeopathic (no side effects) combos that work for me. I love them. Everything else makes me groggy. My other half has used all the drugs and none of them work for him at all. Antihistamines turn him into SATAN.

I don't mind drugs if they work, but if I have to use them, I prefer a compounding pharmacist that makes the drug you need, instead of the overprescribed "candy" that occurs with modern day pharmaceutical companies. I could write a book on this, as my husband has hypoadrenia, hypothyroidism & dermal atrophy from the fact that when MDs don't know what the hell to do with you, they will simply stick your butt on a steroid and send you on your happy way. I will get off my soap box because it's not a pretty story at all.
