Our fur baby

I am in tears. Our fur baby Mo is dying. I need some consoling. Don't care if I spell that right. There is something going on in his brain they think. I am so sad. Had a gut feeling I needed to come home today and check on him as he wasn't acting normal last night and not normal this morning. Found him under a thicket down in the back yard having a seizure. His blood sugar was low at 39, so they thought that is what it was. His sugar is now normal. Stopped by the vet after work to see him and he had already had another severe seizure. Don't understand it. We saw no signs of this yesterday. I am having to go pick him up by 6:00 and take him to the Animal Emergency Center by myself over on Summer Ave. so they can hook him back up to the IV's and monitor him overnight and treat him if he seizes again. And then in the morning I have to go back over there and pick him up and take him back to the vet to stay for the day. Husband doesn't want to put him down. The vet says there is no hope for him. That something bad is going on. I literally had to pry his mouth open this morning to get his pills down him. I am terrified to death he will have a seizure in the car on the way to the emergency clinic. What does everyone else recommend??? I am heartbroken.

Lady, I am so sorry. :(

I don't have any advice, just consoling. I know how heartbreaking that feeling of not being able to do anything at all can be. :(

Sending hugs your way.

Oh Ladyd, I am so sorry to hear this. We pm'd each other a few weeks ago and I had the feeling your Mo was failing then. You know what you have to do and you can't leave him to suffer. But only when the time is right for Mo and for you.

When we had John put to sleep in December, we were told that it was time to put him down. There just didn't seem to be another option. We probably could've applied a few prophylactic measures for him to hold on for another month or so, but it would've been more for our family than for John. I knew it was time to let go.

Big hugs for you and know that I'm certainly thinking of you.

         Oh LadyDe....I am heartsick with you. Wish I was there with you to ride to the hospital. So hard when you have to go by yourself. I've done that in the middle of the night. How old is Mo? Was he bleeding anywhere?

This must be so terrible for you....I would be going out of my mind with worry....and so scared too. When something happens to our children whether furry or just flesh and blood we are surrounded by a force of love. Tap into that and we will too. Mo will be getting all our love and prayers this evening. Feel your friends hugging you and wishing there was more we could do.

Let us know something as soon as you can post. Take care of your baby and yourself first. We are here!

Sending you much fur baby love!!!!

Johnrudy expresses this well. As I just PM'd you, unfortunately the last kind thing we can do for our suffering pets is an act of compassion, which sets them free but is oh so painful for us.

:( I am so sad to hear this. It is so very hard to make the decision. But a very loving choice for a suffering , loyal and loving, member of your family. Fur babies are there for you no matter what. I know you will do the same for your baby Mo.

I can't talk about this too much as the pain is still so hard to bare, but I too had my lab put down in December and God Bless Amy & Susan at Kindness Pet Hospital they do it in a way that is so tender, and humane, and without any stress to the dog.

I carry both of you within my heart right now. Much love.

Me and my furbabies (Huggs and Kisses) will be sending hugs and kisses your way tonight. The hardest thing I ever had to do was make that call when I had to put Belle down. I feel for you and what you are going through. It is so sad that our furbabies can't be with us longer on earth but they give so much to us while they are here. Best of luck and you will know when the time is right for you.
