Trump Comes Off Even Worse in Woodward’s Rage Than You’ve Heard

He then gives Woodward a poster-size copy of a photo of Trump and Kim shaking hands at the border separating North and South Korea. “This is me and him,” he tells Woodward, all excited. “That’s the line, right? Then I walked over the line. Pretty cool.” He goes on to brag that Kim “tells me everything. … He killed his uncle and put the body right in the steps where the senators walked out. And the head was cut, sitting on the chest. … Nancy Pelosi said, ‘Oh, let’s impeach him.’ You think that’s tough? This is tough.”

What a fanboy. No wonder Kim and every other dictator on earth plays the American president like such a wondrously easy mark.

The genuine news here is that, contrary to what was thought at the time, Trump didn’t ignore the scientists or wave away their advice when the pandemic took off. No, he understood their analyses and forecasts perfectly well. He just decided not to do anything about it—and, worse still, to encourage others not to do much either. Before we could only speculate that Trump was personally responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands; now we know it.

I listened to a segment on NPR Morning Edition yesterday that interviewed the author of a book "Homeland Elegies". The author's family is from Pakistan but they lived much of their life in Wisconsin. I have not read the book and not sure I will but the interview was intriguing. Ayad Akhtar wrote the book as both a memoir and a novel and both fact and fiction. The interview was confusing. There is a cardiologist who treats Donald Trump maybe Ayad's father. Somehow different realities existed between father and son as the father narrates an apologetic and sincere Donald Trump while the son believes the father to have fallen under some kind of spell because of Donald Trump's wealth. This book may or may not have any real significance about reality and truth between Trump supporters and Trump haters but I am always searching for answers. This Pulitzer Prize winning author seems to have a different take in that people will take their version of truth and reality to their grave. In other words truth seems to have some flexibility of conscience. I am pretty sure I would not like the book because I have hope that Trump supporters will finally see the writing on the wall before it is too late. That said I admit that there might not be anything that Trump can do or not do to change the mindset of why people support Trump. Dictatorships are apolitical and efficient and maybe that is what his supporters want even if it takes us down the gutter of division and hatred. I am amazed at how many people support Trump through all the facts of his ruthless and destructive behavior. The book is probably over my head but thought I would share. I have learned to be less rigid in my beliefs which makes room for more happiness and less frustration. Like I said earlier life is short!

Trump will blame the Covid-19 deaths on the Chinese and then tweet something like democrats just need to hate something so I am a big boy and they can hate all they want but I have real power and real followers. Unfortunately, he does. What Biden is doing and what all democrats or Biden supporters need to be doing is setting a tone of respect and unity because there are voters on the fence who are not finding comfort in being divided from their neighbors, friends and family. Unfortunately again, democrats have bitten into the bad apple of hatred and divisiveness. I do not know why either side has let politics become their life, liberty and pursuit of happiness but it seems that we are moving in the direction of civil disobedience. I am not looking forward to what comes next.

The more I read about the difference in Trump supporters and Trump haters the less optimistic I am about this election for Biden. Biden is leading in the polls but his lead has not increased much in the last year. A lot of things have happened in a year that should have affected the polling. Trump's polling is not moving either and he is within the margin of winning a close electoral victory. It seems the more people that hate on Trump and Trump supporters the more stable his base becomes. There are many social dynamics at play here. Voters have increasingly been shifting from economic reasoning to social reasoning in voting decisions. Social dynamics are complex with deep layers of cultural and maybe even survival roots. Social changes do not come easy and if they begin to threaten the survival instincts of large groups then we have a problem. Trump supporters are very conservative and are in a survival mode because of the way liberal elites threaten them with liberal values and disrespectful behavior. Conservative elites are taking full advantage of this threat with unwavering support from their base. The rallies and enthusiasm that conservatives have fortified their hope to defeat the liberal enemy. That word enemy is the danger in all this. Both sides attack each other's character and facts and truth are no longer part of any formula in a voter's mindset. Deep wounds have been inflicted. It is us against them. It is good versus evil. Just read the posts in this forum. What comes next is going to be very difficult unless we wake up and find something in common and start the process of healing.

trump uses Russian MiG-29s and an AK47 in an ad on supporting our troops.

I think bob1 nailed it. This administration has no need for reality.

It is a matter a matter of life and death. The Center for Disease Control is putting out political propaganda about stocking up ammunition! And people on this site are calling for calm silence..???...I can’t help but scream.
