Apocalypse Now

Interesting day today

"The Wall Street crash doesn't mean that there will be any general or serious business depression... For six years American business has been diverting a substantial part of its attention, its energies and its resources on the speculative game... Now that irrelevant, alien and hazardous adventure is over. Business has come home again, back to its job, providentially unscathed, sound in wind and limb, financially stronger than ever before."

- Business Week, November 2, 1929

The market sure has priced in a serious downturn in values. I've never seen anything like this before, pretty amazing. I wonder if it'll turn out to be undue pessimism or spot on predictions.

I am betting we find a new bottom. Trying to make money on hourly graphs in the meanwhile. Don't want any money hanging out over the edge for too long. :idontno:

Bad Americans. We should have been much more like those enlightened and futuristic folks over in Dubai who only build (with slaves) cool stuff that's good for the environment so that everyone will buy a little piece of heaven on Earth. Uhhhh...... never mind. Maybe Dubai can join Cleveland on the bailout train.

Your comments are old and tired - you made the exact same point to me when I posted last month - but go ahead, be sarcastic - it is easy to sweep everything simplistically under whatever rug or lens you look at the world through - it is so completely different to the way I view the world.

i don't understand how his/her comments are old and tired. They were just pointing out an issue relative to the current financial situation. Hardly sarcastic or simplistic.

My my.

An interesting week to say the least.

Made a little money in the markets.

Made a little last week as well.

Don't think it's time for "buy and hold" yet.

Capricious

"We feel that fundamentally Wall Street is sound, and that for people who can afford to pay for them outright, good stocks are cheap at these prices."
