Boycott the "Royal" Wedding

New posts
Honestly I figure we are all adults and can pretty much make up our own minds what we watch on TV. As to the Honeymoon, they did not take one, he has to work next week.

I figure in the US we subsitute the royals with sports teams.

Dangitall - I learned a thing or two about beer, lagers and ales on this thread. Success!

I will say that reading this whole post is hilarious. Pearls is probably sorry she ever said anything but I am thinking she needs to lighten up a bit. She must have a royalty allergy. She actually knows a lot more about royal people than most of us. That being said everyone on here has a great sense of humor, especially the comment about Dairy Queen and Burger King. There was quite a lead up to the wedding in the media but so what. It just shows how the legitimiate networks really love the entertainment stories. Have a beautiful weekend for all of you sowallers and Happy Mother's Day to any of you moms out there!

I can't believe this thread is still alive. I loved watching the wedding. I hope that Will and Kate have a long and happy marriage.

OOPS! I inadvertently bumped it.

I saw The King's Speech last night. It reinforced my picture of “royals” as inbred, indulgent half-wits. I take Douglas' point that we shouldn't “hate” these folks, but there's not a whole lot to admire in them. The movie was sumptuously produced, costumed & acted. But the supposedly inspiring story was a guy trying to cope with and overcome a debilitating stutter. If the guy in question had been “common,” would a movie of “A Regular Guy's Speech” have won the Oscar for Best Movie?
