I just have to tell someone

New posts
I relate to everything that has been said and then some. Not the best day for me--spent the a.m. with a sick baby at the Dr.'s and toting a 2-yr-old along to boot. Started feeling sick myself just a few hours before the other three got home from school--then piano lessons, homework, cooked dinner (I made them do the dishes!), folded laundry (lots more to go), put everyone to bed FINALLY (hubby was in and out with work and church obligations so was no help) and almost forgot to watch the finale of Top Chef (turned it on 20 minutes into it.)

Now I've had time to reflect and realize how many kisses I didn't have time to give and how many times I answered a questioned with an annoyed tone in my voice, when I could have been much more patient and much sweeter.

Our good friends in St. Louis lost their 13-yr-old son Saturday night. Totally unexpected and devastating. The funeral was tonight. Motherhood is exhausting and frequently annoying, but I feel so blessed tonight to have all 5 of my children tucked in bed safe and sound. When I found out about Ford's death, I made a promise to myself that I would try harder to appreciate my children, because every day counts. All the exhaustion from raising 5 kids is worth the love that they give back in return.

All of this is so true. So terribly sorry about your friends' son. :( Thanks for posting CCK. I know your kids know how much you love them.

Mr. Pod just called from Hard Rock. The background noise was so loud, I was forced to hang up.
I've just ransacked the house looking for L'il Pea #4's birth certificate (needed to register him for tee ball), and I've found birth certificates for all 3 of the other kids, not his. :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

Just show them your stretch marks and gray hair.

Oh pea, how I remember getting those evening phone calls from exotic locations (even Houston sounded exotic!). Trying to stay awake to listen to the days events and delicious menus from fabulous restaurants from the man who was working hard to support us!! Believe me when I say this...I had not yet learned the vital phrase...STFU!!!

I can relate to this one in a big way. When the kids were itty bitty things, Merman used to go to the UK for weeks at a time. This was before cell phones and if I got a phone call every other day I thought I was lucky. Ah well, I lived through it, kicking and screaming sometimes, but even still, I did it (and so will you, Peapod).

I love this thread- it is helpful to know that this child rearing slow boat to insanity is actually a very crowded cruise ship!!:floor: (Bingo anyone?)

Of course we are all thankful and blessed for our children, but that does not mean that we can't gripe and commiserate about the trials and stresses of parenting. Being frustrated and tired does not make us as parents any less appreciative of the fact that we are lucky to have kids- it just means that we are doing our parenting job. So yes, I hug and love my children, but a cross word to them here and just part of the deal.

Thanks. We do pretty good, but there is always room for improvement. I have wonderful kids--couldn't ask for better. Right now we are going through a transition with some of them going from "little kid" to "big kid" and with that comes more responsibility for them around the house. When it is all said and done, my "big kid" 11-yr. old still needs to be tucked in at night with the blankies she's had since she was 18 mos.

Oh Pea, you need a vaca and or a bubble bath with lots of drinking. Being with lil pods day in and out is hard for anyone. I remember those days fondly looking backwards, but living it was not always so rosy.

Now I am living the empty nest thing and have found that I am getting the hang of it. I control the remote and don't have to hide the chocolate anymore. Hang in there, live in the moment, try not to kill anyone and remember you don't have to be perfect.wub:

Mermaid, thanks to the new wonders of technology, I found an email this morning sent from Mr. Pod's Crackberry saying he'd won $250, and would I like anything? Smart man. ;-)
