I met K. when I was 15, we "went together" for 2 weeks. His mom used to drive us on dates:rolling: He was my first real kiss!! Then I dumped him for "freedom" , but we remained the best of friends. We both went on to have long relationships with other people, went to college, got jobs.....etc. Then one day when I was teaching in Atlanta, I got a knock on my door...guess who?!?! We just had our 16th anniversary:wub:

i was truly the opposite of everything mr audie's parent's would have wanted for him. i'm short, fat, speak my mind, work full time (oh the horror ! - a woman working ), do not want kids (double the horror ), have no religious affiliation (triple the horror ). but somehow we make it work, and manage to all get along....my parents on the other hand are totally enamored of him, i think they like him better than me :idontno:

You had him at Hello! :clap_1:

I grew up as best friends with my wife's brother through grade school and high school. We always saw each other but never were interested in each other. Her family went to California in the summer of 1973 and Pat and her brother stayed home because of work. I spent the 2 whole weeks there while the parents and younger siblings were gone. Had dinner every night because she was such a good cook and we started dating after her parents got home. The rest is history. Our first date was a James Taylor concert and we are still going strong. 4 kids and 8 grandkids later.

12 kiddies later... holey moley!!!! :clap_1: :clap_1: :clap_1:

My heart is turning to mush already! I think deep down under I am an incurable romantic.

I met Rob when he was a visiting engineer from the UK, working at MIT in the Gas Turbine Labs. I was secretary to the head of the department and one day he walked by my desk and was shot by an arrow of Cupid and mortally wounded. There was no hope for the poor man. ;-)

Good for you Mermaid! I love how you put it....Cupid and mortally wounded!:floor: So, with all the snow Indy is expecting in the next couple of days you guys should shack up and celebrate!

Mr. Pod's favorite way to answer this question is: We met in the backseat of my mom's car. I was friends with his older sister, and we met when his mom came to pick up a group of us girls from a football game. We became friends and always kept in touch. He came to my (first) wedding. I still remember he was late because his high-maintenance girlfriend couldn't get ready in time. And I know what she wore, too! Long story short, here we are.

Despite my pending divorce, I am still a romantic at heart - just love reading these stories!
