Turnabout Dance Question

New posts
I have noticed something about teenage girls tho, why do they always wear that awful, gothic black kohl eyeliner? They would be so much prettier w/o it! :idontno: Even my son and his guy friends say they hate it! I'm thinking it is a phase and hopefully they will outgrow it in a year or 2.

Don't worry when they get married it's cheaper to be the parent of the groom. Not cheap mind you, just cheaper.

Not necessarily:blink: While I paid for a third of my first son's wedding, I paid for half of second son's wedding and ALL of third son's wedding (with the exception of the brides dress). The latter I did only because the bride's parent refused to help pay. They said they couldn't afford it, and I felt sorry for the kids. So I offered to pick up the tab. (Funny though - about two months after the wedding the bride's parents ended up suddenly out of their financial woes, because they purchased a new addition to their house, a new motorcycle and a new car:bang: Anyway, my point is that with the ridiculous cost of weddings these days, it's unfair to ask the bride's parents to pick up the tab. Luckily in many cases, couples wait until they're older and established in their jobs and can pay for much of the wedding themselves.

I agree, the heavy eyeliner is so obvious. I was hoping when Sam started wearing make up I wouldn't have to be the make up police. She does a really nice job applying liner and shadow so at the moment I'm okay with it.

It sounds like the brides parents are selfish not poor. I wanted to pay for my daughters wedding. It was my gift to them. It was expensive, but we had funn planning it and I'd do it all over again.

We did it without any help from the grooms family at all. It was nice of you to pick up the tab.

You're right on in your assessment of the bride's parents. What I didn't mention is that unfortunately it turned out that the apple didn't fall far from the tree as far as my former daughter-in-law is concerned. It's sad, because I have a beautiful grandson who resulted from that union, but his mother turned out to be a selfish person as well who would rather spend time partying all night and sleeping all day rather than be a mommy to her little son. My son now thankfully has custody of his 2 year old son. It's such a contrast, because my other two sons married wonderful women who I consider my daughters...we get along fabulously and they are so very sweet!

It's so wonderful and generous that you were able to give your daughter and son-in-law a fabulous wedding! Weddings are so very expensive these days! I had all sons and although traditionally the cost of the wedding is pretty much borne by the bride's family, I wanted to do all I could to help make their special day as memorable as possible.

You sound like a wonderful mother and mother in law.

when we got married we paid for everything ourselves, except for my pop paid for the reception where we had a buffet supper. i couldn't let them pay for my wedding after just putting me thru college....

my sister on the other hand had a big extravaganza.....i bought her wedding dress for her, and honest to goodness i paid more for her dress than my whole entire wedding cost including the reception. but whatever my sis wants, i get her

Thanks for the sweet comment...didn't mean to sound like I was patting myself on the back. I just love being a mom and grandma. It's wonderful to watch the families grow and I love seeing them happy.

Sounds like you're the same way. It's wonderful to make memories that will last a lifetime and beyond!

Your sister's lucky to have you as her sister:clap_1:
